Orthopedic Oncology deals with the diagnosis and treatment of bone and soft tissue tumors mainly in extremities and spine. Rehabilitation and palliation are also the major part of the work. With the upgrading of the manpower, improvement in the recent setup and prompt running of the department, even for the late stage of disease of bone and soft tissue tumors we are able to provide limb salvage (except for the highgrade malingancy requiring amputations or disarticulation) which in the previous setup needs amputations/disarticulations. Multimodality treatment like pre-operative chemotherapy, radiotherapy and the combination of some reconstructive methods including autogenous bone grafts, nailing, plating and cementing are used for the limb salvage.
